Ironmen

This fall we will continue to meet Thursday Mornings from 6:15-7:45 am in the Great Room. Our focus will be “Temptation; The Real Story cont…..” . The fall 10 week session will run from Sept 16-Nov 18. Please check back soon for on line registration.

The “Ironman” race that takes place yearly in Hawaii is one of the most motivating, inspiring, and strenuous endeavors a person may ever be privileged to participate in or see. People train for months pushing the physical envelop to train and discipline their bodies to cross the finish line after swimming 2 miles, biking 112 miles, and running a full marathon at 26.2 miles. In listening to people who have participated in endurance sports (having done a few marathons myself, I can concur) the ultimate value comes in what you learn about yourself, the character qualities developed in the process of training/competing, and the lessons learned that can serve you for a lifetime.

In the spirit of the Ironman we want to create an opportunity and environment where men can come together and “spur one another on” to deeper levels of formation, thinking, character development and influence. Though there isn’t a prescribed curriculum to be completed by a certain date, specific areas of study and life have been identified to work through. Life change and engaging with the world around us in a more coherent way is what we’re going for.

Values:

  • Highly applicable to our daily lives
  • Time to engage significantly with others weekly within a small group setting
  • Men are committed weekly to the group (so attendance isn’t as variable)
  • Unpredictable and Fun
  • Push men to think and act differently
  • Honesty and confidentiality
  • Hearing stories

General Format:

  • Ironmen AM: Thursday mornings, 6:15-7:45 a.m.
  • Ironmen PM: Monday evenings, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
  • Timonium Campus
  • Three ten-week sessions; winter, spring and fall
