REST DAY
What is Rest Day?
Rest Day has become one of Grace’s largest outreaches to the community. This dream to give parents of children with disabilities an afternoon of rest started 9 years ago and we served just 15 families. It has now grown to serve over 70 families every REST Day. Families will drop off their kids (18 & younger), and then leave for an afternoon of rest or errands or even a date! Then volunteers spend the afternoon preparing dinners in the kitchen, playing games with kids, running activity rooms or helping the kids have a wonderful and safe time.
Additional information for families, donating food or volunteering can be found below the sign up links. Please do not hesitate to email or call us anytime with questions.

WHAT DO VOLUNTEERS DO AT REST DAY?
Volunteers are needed from 11:30-4:30PM. From 11:30-12:45 we will feed you lunch and have a training session. We will answer any questions you have and provide you all the information you will need for the day, so you are prepared. Our friends will be there from 1-4. After the families head home, we do a quick clean up of the church and a debrief.
We typically have around 125 friends participate and need many volunteers to make this day happen.
Groups: We need most of our volunteers to serve in groups alongside our friends with disabilities and their siblings to take them around to our planned activities.
Activity Rooms: We need volunteers to serve in our 7 activity rooms to help execute all the fun our friends will have! We do crafts, games, face painting, a rumble room, music and the surprise “fun” room.
Medical Team: We need nurses and medical staff to support our friends so this day of REST is possible! If you are in the medical profession, we would love to connect with you!
Kitchen: We need volunteers to serve in the kitchen preparing meals to send home with our families.
We want to remind everyone that we love families serving together. Any age can serve at Rest Day but kids under 16 need to be serving with an adult. When registering online, there is a place to include any minors serving with you.
WHAT ABOUT TRAINING? WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE OF THE DAY?
We provide all your training that day. We ask every volunteer to serve from 11:30 - 4:30 because of this. From 11:30-12:45 we will give you lunch and have a training session. We will answer any questions you have, provide you all the information you will need for the day, and do a training on disabilities as well so you don't feel unprepared, afraid or worried. The families come from 1-4. Then at 4, after the families head home, we do a quick clean up of the church and a debrief.
HOW DO I SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER?
Click on the “VOLUNTEER” box above, and complete your registration form. If you do not complete this form, you will not be able to serve. We require this form for all volunteers at Rest Day. Upon submission of this form, we will email your personal reference and then send you the background check information. If you have any questions about why we do these 2 steps, we would love for you to read our screening policy. You can contact us anytime with questions.
